Xbox 360 and HDMI

Posted in Home Theater,Xbox 360,Xbox-Scene by Michael Pica on the March 28th, 2007

One of the many things people complained about when the Xbox 360 was first released was the lack of an HDMI port. Many speculated that they could come out with an HDMI adapter down the road however that speculation has since been quashed. More recently we’ve seen report after report after report confirming that an HDMI capable Xbox 360 does exist and that it will arrive very very soon (update: it’s now official). What does this mean for gamers? What does this mean for people who’ve already bought an Xbox 360? Read on to be enlightened… (more…)

Xbox 360 Hypervisor Cracked

Posted in Moding,Xbox 360,Xbox-Scene by Michael Pica on the March 1st, 2007

There’s no post this week because I’m on vacation. Check back next week for your weekly dose of Opinion. In the mean Check out Xbox-Scene Where they’re reporting that the Xbox 360′s Hypervisor has been cracked. For those of you who don’t know that mean that the Xbox 360 is potentially cracked as wide open as the Xbox 1 in terms of being able to run unsigned code, which means things like XBMC, Linux, and emulators might start popping up as well as more useful modchips or other kinds of hacks. Keep your eyes open, this is the start of exciting times.

Pir8 4 pr0fit

Posted in Moding,Xbox-Scene by Michael Pica on the December 13th, 2006

About every month or so there’s a news article about a console moder for hire somewhere in the world that wound up arrested. Late last week reports of a NJ moder getting arrested hit the web. This particular instance hit a little closer to home as many in the Xbox-Scene community knew him, either through “business” dealings, having played games with him on Xbox Live, or from having seen one of his many (non piracy related) console modifications hit various news outlets, which is probably how most people knew of him. Personally I didn’t know much about him. While we were both Xbox-Scene forum moderators I never really talked to him much, I’d seen some of his water cooled consoles, I’d only ever played online with him once or twice and only because we were both invited to a game by a mutual friend. Firmware Paranoia

Posted in Moding,Xbox 360,Xbox-Scene by Michael Pica on the October 31st, 2006

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Fall update was just released today. with 80+ new features and bug fixes you’d think the buzz surrounding the 2nd major software update for the console would be that of excitement or perhaps wonderment over some new software toys to play with. Instead I see nothing but Fear Uncertainty and Doubt (otherwise known as FUD) and a hefty helping of paranoia. Basically all of the game pirates who hide behind the thin veil of a security blanket they call “backups” are worried that their free games pass is about to expire. (more…)
